Description

Program Overview:
The English Pronunciation program consists of a series of four 16-hour courses for intermediate and advanced English speakers who want to improve their overall pronunciation to be better understood by native speakers.

Course Description:
In this course, an experienced instructor will work closely with students to address listening comprehension and clarity of speech with a concentration on rhythm, stress, and intonation as they pertain to vowel sounds. A pre-assessment will be conducted with each student to analyze his or her speech profile and a post-assessment will be conducted to determine each studentís strengths and weaknesses upon completion of the course.

Basic syllable pronunciation
Vowel rules
Word stress and vowel length
Word stress and vowel clarity
Word stress patterns
Emphasizing content words
De-emphasizing structure words
Contractions and reductions

Prerequisite(s):
In order to register for this course, you must complete an oral evaluation which places you at the mid intermediate level or above.
