Course Description:
Become a licensed insurance property and casualty agent in the state of Florida. This 200-hour online, self-paced state-approved course is designed to meet the requirements set forth by the Florida Department of Financial Services. After completion of the online course and passing the online exam, you will be eligible to sit for the state examination. Required Text: Florida General Lines Agent & Customer Representative Study Manual.

Student MUST have the following prerequisite(s) before applying:

Have taught an approved 200 hour classroom course in property and casualty insurance at a school, college, or extension division within four (4) years of application date. Section 626.732(1)(a), Florida Statutes. [Requires State Examination]
OR

OR
Successfully completed a 200 hour approved correspondence course (includes self-study online courses) in all lines of property and casualty insurance approved by the Department (course be completed within four (4) years of application date) and having at least six (6) months within the last four (4) years of responsible insurance duties as a full-time bona fide employee (of an insurer, general lines agent or agency, etc.) in all lines of property and Casualty insurance. OR
Completed at least one (1) year within the last four (4) years in responsible insurance duties as a full-time bona fide employee in all lines (the areas of property, casualty, surety, health, and marine) of property and casualty insurance. OR
Completed at least one (1) year within the last four (4) years of responsible insurance duties as a licensed and appointed customer representative or limited customer representative and completed a 40 hour classroom course approved by the Department in the areas of property, casualty, surety, marine and health insurance. OR
Completed at least one (1) year within the last four (4) years of responsible insurance duties as a licensed and appointed service representative and complete a 80 hour classroom course approved by the Department in the areas of property, casualty, surety, marine and health insurance. OR
Become a resident of Florida, held a valid resident license with the equivalent line of authority for at least one (1) continuous year prior to applying for a license in Florida, and submit the application for the Florida general lines license within 90 days of becoming a resident of Florida. OR
Have an original letter from the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters certifying the licensee was awarded the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation and has been engaged in the insurance business within the past four (4) years. How to Start the Course:
You must provide a working email address to complete your registration. After completing your registration, you will be sent an email within three (3) to four (4) business days providing instructions on how to access the course. If you do not receive your access information via email, contact Valencia at elearning_info@valenciacollege.edu.

All students must provide a functional email address at the time of registration. Failure to do so will result in a delay in the registration process. If you do not receive an email response, be sure to check your spam settings as they may have been filtered out as junk email. We recommend that you add the email address above and any communication from our partner vendor to your email address book.

Participants will have up to 180 days from the date of receipt of access to complete the course and take the final course exam. An instructor is available via e-mail, fax, or telephone for assistance.

Completing the Course:
You must pass the online final course exam in order to complete the course. A minimum score of 70% is required. Upon completion of the course, your results will automatically be sent to the Department of Financial Services (FLDFS) and you will be sent a Certificate of Completion within 30 days. If you do not complete the course within the 180 days, you will have to re-register and pay for the course again. All online courses are nonrefundable.
