The Conversational Portuguese program is a series of four 21-hour courses designed for beginner level students. In this series, participants will practice all four skills of communication: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Grammar will also be a program component.
This course is designed for mid-beginner students who have already taken Low Beginner Portuguese 1A (recommended) or who have some limited exposure to the language. The program provides students with practice of the language objectives, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation needed to communicate in the real world. In addition, students will be introduced to Brazilian culture, history, and geography throughout the lessons in English.

Describe places around town; discuss using different modes of transportation; discuss activities to do around town
Place an order at a restaurant
Talk to people about renting an apartment; discuss moving day; talk about where the furniture
should be located in your new place
Interact with people around town
Learn numbers up to two million; talk about time
Discuss what clothing and accessories to wear for different occasions
Talk about occupations; describe characteristics of different people
Discuss various emergencies
Talk to a doctor about an ailment
In order to register for this course, you must be a native Spanish speaker who has never taken Portuguese classes or have completed Low Beginner Portuguese 1A.
