Description

Program Overview:
The Spanish Conversational Club consists of a series of courses for Spanish speakers who want to improve their overall communicative proficiency in Spanish. Courses within a level can be taken in any order as each course covers new vocabulary and grammar.

Course Description:
This 16-hour course is designed for individuals who can communicate at a high beginner level of proficiency in Spanish. Each week, the facilitator will highlight a different Spanish-speaking country with a subtopic selected by club participants. The first 60 to 90 minutes will be spent practicing high beginner-level language functions related to the topic and subtopic of the class. Language functions may include: making small talk, describing the weather, nationalities, daily activities, travel, present/past tense, current events, among other topics. The last portion of class will be dedicated to grammar instruction based on participants’ needs. Participants will practice the language in group and paired activities. Facilitation will include practice in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Prerequisite(s):
You must complete an oral evaluation which places you at the High Beginner level or have completed Low and Mid Beginner Spanish courses at Valencia.
