Description

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In this short-term training program, students will obtain the skills required to safely operate heavy equipment. Heavy equipment operators (HEO) not only work on regular construction building jobs, but also on infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, and ports, otherwise called non-building construction), and land development.

A trained and experienced equipment operator provides necessary skills for any project that requires moving and transporting heavy materials, or that demands any kind of earthmoving. In this program students will learn to safely operate each major piece of heavy equipment, as well as topics such as Civil Blueprint Reading, Soils, and Paving.

The demand for this type of skilled worker continues to grow with over 9 billion dollars of construction projects planned for the Central Florida area in the next few years. The career opportunities are diverse and the potential to work in a high wage position exists.

COURSE DETAILS
This intense 324 hour program will consist of a variety of learning activities to appeal to each learning style. Students will gain knowledge through lecture and classroom activities taught from the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum. They will begin their practical, hands-on application through extensive simulation training on state of the art CAT Simulators. Site tours will be taken throughout the program so students can see real-world application of what they are learning. Finally, students will have an abundance of actual seat time on a variety of heavy equipment.
